Gregor JAKUBOWSKI : - "Les NEUF-PREUX" - "The NINE WORTHIES" - "Die NEUN HELDEN" - "I NOVE PRODI" "DZIEWIECIU DZIELNYCH" chateau de LANGEAIS INSTITUT de FRANCE ALBUM from the Exhibition Gregor JAKUBOWSKI: Oriflammes Les NEUF PREUX - The NINE WORTHIES - the Good Pagan Worthy : IULIUS CAESAR & the Good Lady Worthy : SINOPE On the castle of LANGEAIS in the LOIRE valley, the Service des Actions Pedagaogiques of the INSTITUT de FRANCE, has organised the exhibition : "Un REVE de CHEVALERIE - Les NEUF PREUX " / "A Dream of Chivalry. The NINE WORTHIES" Grzegorz JAKUBOWSKI B. de WEYDENTHAL, artist, heraldic painter, restorer of ancient paintings and author of writings on art, was invited to enrich this historical show with his contemporary creations. JAKUBOWSKI has painted a dyptique with a predella, inspired by the "NINE WORTHIES" ("NEUF PREUX"). The painting is on display in one of the castle's room, along with other of his creations, based on medieval and heraldic art and iconography. Grzegorz JAKUBOWSKI has also painted monumental "oriflammes", showing one of the Worthies (Iulius Cesar) and one of the Female Worthies (Sinope), accompagnied by their arms, The canvas were originally placed on the castle`s fasade, on both sides of the drawbridge Another contribution of the artist to the exhibition organised by the INSTITUT de FRANCE is the accurate, three-dimentional realisation of eighteen shields, plaecd on the medieval frescoes, showing the heroes I NOVE PRODI in the La Manta castle in Italy. After he emigrated to France, in 1981, he entered and graduated the École nationale supérieure des BEAUX-ARTS in Paris. Simultaneously he was trained in the RESTORATION of paintings in the Ateliers Saint-Gervais in Paris. His paintings were EXHIBITED all around Europe, and also in the USA, often in historical buildings : Chateau Stanislas in Luneville, Chapelle Saint-Jean in Saumur, Haras National of Tarbes, Musée Vivant du Cheval in Chantilly, Saint-Auvent Castle, Lubomirski Museum in the National Institution Ossolineum in Wroclaw, Espace Benezet in Avignon, Royal Castle in Niepolomice, Poland, ... He also participated in ORGANISATION, or was the AUTHOR of many exhibitions and cultural events in France, in Poland and in the USA, mainly in the scheme of the Polish Historical and Litterary Society in the BIBLIOTEQUE POLONAISE (Biblioteka Polska) in Paris (in the Boleslas BIEGAS Museum and in the Adam MICKIEWICZ Museum - exhibitions on Olga BOZNANSKA, ZAWADO, Polish artists from the ECOLE de PARIS, Poles in the French RESISTANCE), and also in the Assemblée Nationale, Saint-Auvent Castle, National Library in Warsaw, Bibliothèque Municipale in Périgueux, Maison du Limousin in Paris, Antoine Bourdelle Museum, National Museum in Warsaw, Mazovian Museum in Plock, Society for Arts in Chicago, POLISH SCIENTIFIS CENTER PAN in Paryzu, Maison du Cheval in Tarbes, Galerie des Trois Notre-Dame w Angouleme, Chapelle Saint-Jean in Saumur, etc. He was also a representative in France of the Polish MUSEUM in RAPPERSWIL, Switzerland and supported "Kwartalnik Biograficzny Polonii" of A.Judycki. Between 1995 and 1997 he was the author of the renaissance and chairman of the UNION des ARTISTES POLONAIS en FRANCE - he has organised several exhibitions of the group.
